Methodological challenges and insights for future international business research

Abstract Given the diverse, interdisciplinary, and multilevel nature of international business (IB) research, it is critical to address methodological challenges prior data collection. Thus, we suggest that an ounce prevention worth a pound cure . We describe following challenges: (1) researching important relevant issue; (2) making meaningful theoretical progress; (3) recognizing, anticipating, resolving dilemmas in research design execution decisions; (4) integrating quantitative qualitative by using mixed methods; (5) reducing “distal proxy fallacy” through measurement error management. then offer specific actionable recommendations implementation guidelines for authors, journal editors, reviewers addressing each these with overall goal advancing IB theory.
